| About RSM Raiganj Surendranath Mahavidyalaya is a general degree college affiliated to University of North Bengal. It offers its students a broad curriculum embracing the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. RSM is an institution where education reflects a sense of looking outward . Founded in 1986, RSM is a coeducational college with a student body of about 1500. Its three-year curriculum leads to the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. It’s educational mission rests upon two principles: academic excellence and self reliance. Located in the northern end of Raiganj municipal town, the campus includes a modern two storied building. Excellent facilities include Computer Labs, Library, indoor and out door games etc. A vocational education center also present in the building The College has made a major commitment to academic excellence. It is in the process of adding faculty positions, widening opportunities in key undergraduate programs. RSM has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, including a 50 percent increase in undergraduate applications. During the same period, a remarkable increase in revenue collection from distance education has helped to move the college to establish a unique position in the tertiary level of education. |

History 6.10.1986 : Ad-hoc Governing body decided to open the college after Puja vacation. 21.10.1986 : The Government of West Bengal approved the college. (Memo No. 1777-Edn(CS) dt 21.10.1986 7.11.1986 : Academic sub committee formed with the following members : Sri S.N.Roy, Chairman, Mukul Biikas Bikas Sen, Sri Jagadish Ch. Sarkar, Sri Asit Ghosh,Dr. B.C. Bagchi, Prof. Kalyan Kumar Ghosh 12.11.1986: Teachers of Raiganj University college offered voluntary service of taking classes 14.11.1986 : (Friday at 2.00 P.M.)The academic activity started 1986 : six non-teaching staff appointed 1987 : Five permanent teachers Joined the college 1989 : Received Temporary Affiliation from University of North Bengal 4.9.1992: First statutory Governing body formed. 4.7.1995 : Dr D.K.Das joined as a Principal 19.4.1996: Received permanent affiliation from University of North Bengal 25.06.1997 : Received recognition from University Grants Commission under 2f and 12B UGC Act |
